SAN ANTONIO – Dozens of athletes gathered to raise money for injured veterans and their families and honor their sacrifice and service.
More than 2,000 people gathered at Mission County Park on Saturday for the 7th Annual Carry Forward 5K, an event that raises money for injured veterans and their families.
The purpose of this event is to showcase how the San Antonio community has not forgotten about our veterans and how ongoing measures like this event are helping those in need. It was.
Participants in the 5K could carry either a flag, a weight ranging from 1 to 100 pounds, or another person to symbolize the weight veterans carry in defending their country.
“The effects of war and military service on wounded warriors can last a lifetime, and Carry Forward is an exciting and fun opportunity for participants to support warriors and their families,” said Angela Hemmen, peer-to-peer fundraising events director at WWP. said. “We are extremely grateful for the City of San Antonio’s continued support of this exciting 5K and our mission to empower more veterans each year.”
The foundation will also be offering a Carry Forward Virtual 5K for those who were unable to attend Saturday’s event.
