ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHAM) — Homeowners in the Rochester area shared their thoughts on seasonal services and snow removal pricing ahead of winter.
The past few days have been blessed with sunny skies and warm air. But we all know what’s coming soon… snow.
Without us even realizing it, our roads can become muddy and our driveways can become covered in ice. Snowplow truck drivers like Gina D’Andrea of Girl Prawer say seasonal contracts are worth the money.
“Seasonal contracts are insurance,” D’Andrea said. “You know, whether it’s one storm or 10 or 20, it pays off in terms of the peace of mind you get from not having to go out and shovel or shovel snow. Well worth it.”
Richard Settembre has lived in Greece for almost 10 years. He just booked snow removal services for this winter season.
“This season’s contract starts on November 15th and ends on April 15th, so we will be paying upfront,” Settembre said. “When snow reaches 3 inches, we start plowing. Snow removal times may vary, but this person will come out as often as needed.”
This year it will cost him just over $370, but he considers it insurance.
“My rationale is that the typical cost of a heart attack is about $20,000,” Settembre said. “So this contract will be for 57 years.”
Paula Zack agrees.
“When it comes to snow removal, we like to request service in advance,” Zach says. “Usually you can get a contract.”
Having lived in Henrietta for more than 20 years, she knows how harsh winter can be. She pays seasonal rates.
“It’s $390 this year, so it’s pretty good,” Zach said. “I’ve seen prices much higher than this. If you’re going to pay upfront, do your research beforehand.”
