JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – For the past two years, a wife and husband who own a home in a Lackawanna-area community have been renting it out.
The owners stopped receiving rental checks, so they went to the property on Wednesday and found the tenants had vacated the property and left 130 Chihuahuas inside.
Homeowners, who asked to remain anonymous, described their shocking experiences.
“When we arrived, the renters had long left, but the house was full of dogs running around. The dogs had probably been without food for several days, so we gave them a try. I decided to feed it and then informed the authorities,” the homeowner said.

The stench was so bad that rescue workers had to wear protective masks every time they entered the house.
The shelter is currently in dire need of adopters and foster parents. We are currently at capacity.
“Fosters. Adopters. We already have 300 dogs at the shelter, so for the next 130 dogs we’re going to add, we’re definitely going to need the public’s help with fostering and adopting. We’re making it very easy. ,” said Animal Care and Protective Services Commissioner Michael Bricker.
The couple had to completely destroy their home due to pet urine, feces and odors. of
“This happened at the worst possible time because he had just been laid off from his job and his wife is currently battling cancer,” the husband said.
