Dr. Donald R. Van Deventer has been in the risk management business since receiving his Ph.D. in Business Economics from Harvard University in 1977. He founded Kamakura Corporation in 1990 after working for 13 years at two of the 10 largest banks in the United States and as an investment banker in Tokyo. He joined SAS Institute Inc. as co-director of the Center for Applied Quantitative Finance when SAS acquired Kamakura Corporation in 2022. At the time of Kamakura’s acquisition by SAS, total assets or assets under management of Kamakura’s institutional customers were $48 trillion.
He heads the investment group Corporate Bond Investor, which provides Kamakura’s cutting-edge risk analysis to individual investors. The analytical process underlying Corporate Bond Investor is the same as that offered by SAS Institute Inc. to institutional investors. We also provide daily rankings of corporate bonds by highest risk-adjusted returns. His investment group is currently the only group on Seeking Alpha that focuses exclusively on corporate bonds.
