W. Colleen Marquardt, 91, passed away on October 11, 2024 at her home.
Colleen was born November 7, 1932 in Findlay, Ohio to the late Sylvester and Florence (Leatherman) Dangler.
Colleen has had multiple careers during her lifetime. Together with her husband Ivan, she built RVs under the names Marvela and Revera. She ran the Scott’s Inn restaurant in Lima for several years. Colleen retired from a highly successful career with Western Southern Life Insurance Company, where she received numerous awards and formed many lasting friendships.
Traveling was one of Colleen’s passions in life. She has traveled to 16 countries including every state in the United States and Italy, United Kingdom, Belgium, Canada, Mexico, Bahamas, France, Netherlands, Germany, Portugal, Monaco, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, and her favorite Switzerland. visited the country.
She was a great cook and always had enough to feed her friends and family.
Colleen has lived in the same home for over 50 years and has always been blessed to have so many wonderful and supportive neighbors.
Colleen also loved her garden and observed the many birds that were always well fed.
Colleen is predeceased by her husband, Ivan Marquardt, to whom she was married for 58 years, and her grandson, Justin Marquardt. and three siblings, Katherine Rouse, Ivan Dangler and Laura Lieber.
She is survived by her daughter, Beverly Marquardt of Bell Center, Ohio; her son Stephen (Darlene) Marquardt of Oriental, NC; granddaughter, McKenna (Cameron) Williams of Raleigh, North Carolina; sisters, Linda Whitehouse of Littman, Ohio, Ruth Thompson of Benton Ridge, Ohio, and brother Danny (Evelyn) Dangler of Bluffton.
Graveside services will begin at 2:00 pm on Monday, October 14, 2024 at Tawa Cemetery in Lawson with Pastor Mike Porter officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Indian School, 1301 N Main St, Chamberlain, SD 57325.
