Ukraine has become a member of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), which works to develop rural economies and food systems.
This related statement was made by Ukraine’s Minister of Agricultural Policy and Food Vitaly Koval on Facebook, Ukrinform correspondent reported.
“This is a strategic step taken by the Ministry of Agricultural Policy and Food of Ukraine, which, after the previous working meeting with IFAD representatives in Rome, managed to become the 179th member state. Joining IFAD provides Ukraine with new opportunities and prospects to contribute to the development of the entire agricultural sector,” Koval said.
In his words, IFAD’s priority is the development of small-scale agriculture. With IFAD’s support, Ukrainian producers will be able to increase their competitiveness and strengthen their market position.
In addition, Ukrainian producers will have access to low-cost financial resources and subsidy support and will be able to participate in fund tenders for the procurement of goods and services.
We would like to remind you that the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) is a specialized agency of the United Nations whose objective is to mobilize additional resources, provided on preferential terms, for the agricultural development of its Member States.
On September 4, 2024, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine ratified the decision on Ukraine’s accession to the Agreement establishing the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).
