The three-bedroom, two-bathroom house at 149 Coastline Drive was the fictional home of Will, Joyce, and Jonathan Byers of Hawkins, Indiana. The popular drama series featured the family in its first three seasons before fleeing to California. Located on 6 acres, the home has approximately 1,800 square feet of living space.
The previous owners had to barricade the driveway and put up “private property” signs to keep out trespassers because “Stranger Things” fans drive by it every day. They put the house on the market in September 2022 for $300,000.

“I’m a huge fan of ‘Stranger Things,'” co-founder and chief operating officer Alejandro Choza said in an interview with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “I was part of the Reddit community. My personal love now meshes with my day job. I want to recreate the feel of the show.”
So far, 2,400 people have put in $100 each to become owners, as of Tuesday afternoon, about 10 hours after the property was opened to investors, Choza said. He said he is limiting the number of investors to about 15,000.

Arrived hired dozens of experienced artists and professionals to recreate the Byers House and modernize the home’s plumbing, HVAC, and electrical. In total, the company spent nearly $700,000 on repairs to the home and property, Choza said.
“It took me a while to figure out the interactive Christmas lights wall,” he said. “There were a lot of technical issues to deal with there.” When you press certain buttons, a wall of lights connected to the alphabet will say words like “run” and “go.”
The house also has a distinct 1980s feel, with a VHS player and movies referenced in “Stranger Things” such as “The Evil Dead” and “Jaws.” There are also plenty of board games, including Dungeons & Dragons.
Choza stayed at the house on weekends with his mother and three sisters. “She watched ‘Stranger Things’ with us and was hooked,” he said. “She started recreating scenes from the show, like when Joyce Byers was on the phone. We have a replica of that yellow phone.”
He said the renovations were completed several weeks ago, but they had to wait for a short-term rental permit from Fayette County, which was only granted last week.
His company is considering the possibility of opening the site to visitors at certain times, like a museum.
For the show itself, the interior of the house was filmed on a soundstage at EUE Screen Gems in Atlanta.
“Stranger Things,” which debuted in 2016, has almost completed production on its fifth and final season, mainly in the Atlanta metropolitan area. New episodes won’t air until 2025.
