VERONA, Va. (WHSV) – Shamrock Farms, a Tuscon, Arizona-based milk processing plant, is investing $59 million in its Verona location, creating new jobs in Augusta County and expanding the area’s milk production. We plan to increase demand.
Shamrock Farms makes single-use milk bottles sold in convenience stores and restaurants. Subway was one of the first carriers of this brand. The Verona processing plant uses milk from dairy farms in Virginia and Maryland. Augusta County Board of Supervisors Chairman Jeff Slaven said the expansion is expected to increase demand for milk for dairy farmers, the fourth-largest agricultural producer in Augusta County.
Shamrock Farms held an expansion ceremony on October 15th. At the gala, Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin spoke with Augusta County officials and other community stakeholders. He praised the company’s decision to reinvest in Virginia. This is because it was easy to choose another location for expansion.
“When a company celebrates values that have been passed down for more than 100 years, values that clearly embody treating employees like family and treating suppliers and customers like friends, These are the companies I want in Virginia,” Youngkin said.
The project will create 28 new jobs in the Verona area. The project is expected to be completed in the fall of 2025, according to Shamrock Farms’ president. Once the project is complete, 14 jobs will be created immediately, with the remaining 14 jobs expected to be filled as the facility expands its warehouse space.
Slaven said Shamrock Farms is the “anchor” of Mill Place Commerce Park, and the new investment in the property will bring other businesses to the Verona area, right next to Interstate 81. He said it will help encourage people to settle down. Shamrock Farms is located across the street from the new CAVA production facility, which opened in May 2024.
