Jury Comments: “Loneliness and Exploitation” is a vitally important and well-told story in a time when America’s gaze is focused on the U.S.-Mexico border. Ignoring the perspective, she focuses her research on the real cause of the immigration problem in the United States: the workplace. She wisely focuses on the most vulnerable of the workforce: the children of immigrants. She uses important, groundbreaking data to tell this story, but most importantly, she uses the voices of vulnerable children who often go unheard.”
