I recently spent 7 nights on the Norwegian cruise ship Breakaway. My group of 3 booked a family cabin that sleeps up to 5 people. The stateroom cost totaled $3,000, which was cheaper than booking multiple small cabins.

This fall, my family traveled to New England and Canada for seven nights on a Norwegian breakaway.
If you are cruising alone, book the cheapest cabin possible as you will only be using it for sleeping and showering. However, since my husband and mother also joined us on this voyage, it was not possible in the small room.
At first we thought of booking two inside cabins for three people, but then we realized that a family room with an ocean view would be cheaper. We already live under the same roof so we weren’t worried about privacy.
I was unsure about the space, but the cabin, which accommodates up to 5 people, was larger than I expected. Great for 3 people, but great for 4 or more people.
