PORTLAND, Ore. — Two weeks after the announcement that the WNBA would return to Portland, nearly 5,000 season ticket deposits have already been sold for the unnamed team’s inaugural season in 2026 at Moda Center The Portland WNBA announced Wednesday.
On September 18th, news broke that the Women’s National Basketball Association would be returning to the Rose City for the first time in 22 years. Portland becomes the league’s 15th franchise.
The team name and logo have not yet been announced.
“The Portland community is proud to show its support for the WNBA as we continue to solidify our position as the global epicenter of women’s sports,” said Lisa Bartal-Meraj, general owner and governor of the Portland WNBA team. I’m excited to give it to you.”
“Our goal is to build an organization and team that Portland and the entire state of Oregon can be proud of,” Batal Merage said. “Since the announcement, we have been in awe of the incredible support and look forward to continuing to engage with the community as we all work towards tipoff in 2026. ”

There’s no way to know how prices stack up, but season tickets for Seattle’s WNBA team, the Storm, range from $782 to $2,185.
If fans want to take a closer look into the crystal ball, a season ticket deposit for the Bay Area’s new Golden State Valkyries franchise costs $25. The team is scheduled to play its first WNBA season in 2025. Plays at Chase Center in San Francisco. Detailed pricing and seat selection for Valkyries season tickets have also not yet been announced. However, it’s safe to say that the cost of living in the Bay Area is higher than in the Rose City, but once prices are revealed, it could be an indicator of how prices will be set in Portland.
