Novatae Risk Group has appointed John Catrabone (pictured above) as vice president of carriers. In his new role, Mr. Catraborn will oversee carrier relationships, work to establish new strategic alliances and support the expansion of Novate’s product solutions.
Catrabone joins Novatae with more than 30 years of experience in various insurance sectors, including U.S. surplus insurance, global airlines, and brokerage. His background includes working with Fortune 500 clients in complex global risk management from both a broker and carrier perspective.
Mr. Catraborn, who is based in Ohio, began his new role on October 21st.
Mr. Cutravone actively speaks at RIMS chapters across the country on complex real estate risk strategies and contributed to the John Reiner Review during his consulting career.
“John brings decades of expertise and relationships that will be invaluable as we work to better align insurer interests with Novate’s ongoing expansion plans. ” said Richard Kerr, Novate’s CEO.
Kerr said he looks forward to Katravone’s contributions as the company continues to pursue both organic growth and acquisitions.
Mr. Catrabone expressed his enthusiasm for joining Novate and said he aims to further develop the company’s strategic partnership.
“We have grown exponentially over the past two years, so a strong alliance infrastructure will benefit us, our partners and our clients,” he said.
Prior to joining Novatae, Mr. Catrabone was chief sales officer at Universal Fire & Casualty Insurance Company in Ohio, where he oversaw all MGA and wholesaler activities.
Previous leadership experience includes positions at companies such as Tokio Marine America, Risk Match, Assurex Global, Zurich, Gallagher, HILB, and Deloitte. He holds a bachelor’s degree in risk management and insurance from Pennsylvania State University.
In March, the wholesale brokerage announced it would acquire London-based Bretton Woods International (BWI) for an undisclosed sum.
Founded in 2015 by former Ark Syndicate Management class underwriter and Miller Insurance Services broker Dan Goggin, BWI specializes in complex contingency, accident and health, cyber, professional liability, management risk and general liability. , with a focus on public markets and program delivery.
