North Platte Public Schools Executive Director of Finance Stuart Simpson announced his resignation during Thursday night’s school board meeting.
Simpson will complete the 2024-25 school year, with his retirement effective in June 2025.
In his announcement, Mr. Simpson thanked everyone who has worked with him over the past 36 years, both at the Alliance and at NPPS.
“It has been my privilege and honor to work with North Platte Public Schools for the past 18 years and for the next 19 years,” Simpson said in his resignation speech. “…I would like to once again thank you for the opportunity to serve our students and all of our staff.”
Superintendent Todd Rose, who first came to the district the same year as Mr. Simpson, said Mr. Simpson was an “icon” at NPPS.

“I can confidently say that NPPS’ current staff, board of directors, former employees and former board members are deeply grateful for their years of service to the children and families of this region,” Rose said. said. “So the only thing I can say to you is, you still have eight months, but thank you.”
During the meeting, board members also heard a presentation from North Platte High School Principal Cory Spotanski about the high school’s “Bulldog Time.”
Bulldog Time is reserved for students in all four grades to learn more about future careers, test preparation, and work ethics. Spotanski added that 40 students per semester pursue off-campus internships.
Mr. Rose provided updates on both the Western Nebraska Administrator’s Report and the ESU 16th and 15th Senate Roundtables.
State Sens. Mike Jacobson and Teresa Eibach attended the roundtable to learn more about the district and share their thoughts with the superintendents.
Adjusted real estate valuations for 2024-25 were also presented. North Platte’s adjusted figure was just under $3.16 billion, $29.74 million less than its original appraised value.
