The M&T Charitable Foundation, the philanthropic arm of M&T Bank, is seeking proposals for a final round of $25 million in Amplify funds.
The fund provides support to nonprofit activities that are considered “traditional People’s United communities” that benefit low- and moderate-income communities and underrepresented populations.
In addition to Long Island, the foundation’s new call for proposals includes Westchester County, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, and southern Maine.
“With this third and final request for proposals, M&T Charitable Foundation continues to seek opportunities that are fair, accessible, and responsive to local needs,” said Karen Garbo, regional manager for M&T Charitable Foundation of New England. said. News release regarding call for proposals.

This grant will go to nonprofit organizations focused on improving financial health and resiliency, building wealth and removing barriers, reducing income inequality, and providing opportunities for sustainable economic pathways. Eligible initiatives must directly address documented needs, challenges, and gaps facing communities in small business development, entrepreneurship, and career growth. Close the racial wealth gap, build a more inclusive and fair economy, and create safer, more stable and prosperous lives and economic growth for marginalized and underrepresented people, including the lower and middle classes. Consideration will also be given to applicant organizations that have a clear set of needs to address and a proven strategy to address those needs.
