Global reinsurance company MS Amlin has appointed Jo Hine and Andrew Downes (pictured above) as independent non-executive directors.
Mr. Hein will chair the Risk and Solvency Committee, pending regulatory approval. Mr. Hein has a background in finance, capital and risk, having held senior positions at Hiscox, Tokio Marine Kiln, QBE Europe Operations and Aioi Nissay Dowa Europe, a sister company of MS Amlin.
She is currently an independent non-executive director of Arch Insurance International and a non-executive director and trustee of the charity Publish What You Fund.
Mr Downs joins the board after a 20-year career as an audit partner at Deloitte, where he managed audit and advisory projects for UK and international clients, including several Lloyds syndicates, brokers and Lloyds itself.
Mr Downs is also a non-executive director and director of the Pimlico Toy Library, a children’s charity in Westminster, and represents the auditing profession on the Insurance Committee and Lloyd’s Working Group of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
Simon Jeffreys, chairman of the MS Amlin board, said that both Mr Hein and Mr Downs bring a deep understanding of the Lloyds market and will strengthen the board’s expertise as the company seeks to strengthen its competitive position. Ta.

Last month, Lloyds Re also announced the appointment of Emma Snowdon as head of capital management and investments.
In this role, Mr. Snowdon oversees the company’s capital modeling, capital strategy and investment portfolio management, all aimed at supporting MS Amlin’s long-term growth objectives and financial resilience.
Mr. Snowdon is based in London and reports to Jesse Burrows, Chief Financial Officer.
