PLAINFIELD, Vt. (WCAX) – The future of Goddard College’s campus is in the spotlight after the school’s board announced Monday that it has signed an agreement to sell the property to a local real estate redevelopment company. In response to this.
Goddard announced its closure in April, but entered into a sales agreement with Execusuite LLC, based in Lebanon, New Hampshire. Officials say this will allow the university to meet financial obligations such as paying faculty and staff and settling debts with creditors.
“The board is pleased to have reached an agreement that is not only fiscally responsible, but also has the potential to contribute to the future revitalization of Plainfield,” Goddard President Dan Hocoy said in a statement. .
“We have a strong track record of contributing to the revitalization of communities in Vermont and New Hampshire, including White River Junction, and are passionate about historic buildings and downtown revitalization.”Executive Suite Mike Davidson said in a statement. “We are honored to lead the future of Goddard College’s campus while preserving its idyllic, historic and unique character. Our goal is to preserve the existing buildings and strengthen the local community and Goddard College. The announcement came a week after the university withdrew from a campus purchase agreement with a local nonprofit after a group of former students and faculty failed to raise the necessary funds.
