ANDALUSIA, Ala. (WSFA) – Since 2005, Meredith’s Miracle has helped families with sick children get the medical care they need.
As 2024 draws to a close, the nonprofit organization is asking Alabamians to ramp up their philanthropic efforts to help the hundreds of families they care for.
“Be the Miracle” is Meredith’s Miracles’ latest campaign.
Their goal is to raise as much money as possible for the 355 families they care for in Alabama.
“Whether it’s $5, $1, $20, it all goes directly to the family,” said Jenna Anderson, president of Meredith Miracles.
In the early 2000s, Meredith McGlamory’s family received donations to help her fight cancer.
After she lost that battle in 2003, her family was inspired to help not only Andalusia, but 26 other counties in need.
“We specialize in supporting families with transportation to medical appointments. We help them attend all their appointments by covering things like food, gas, and lodging. ” said Executive Director Kylie Spears.
The nonprofit organization follows up with medical professionals and their families to ensure donated funds are put to good use.
Meredith Miracles has received a lot of support in the past, but this year they want to do the best they can for the families they care about.
“What happens if one of our flyers gets clicked on like 80,000 times and 80,000 people donate $5? That’s $400,000,” Spears said.
Donations can be made through the Meredith Miracle website.
