The Kenny L. Campbell Scholarship Fund will be awarded in 2025 through the Chautauqua Area Community Foundation’s monthly Workforce Development Scholarship process.
“Thanks to the increase in donors, we now have a dedicated pool of funds to support short-term job training and certification programs,” said Michelle Tambascio, the foundation’s director of scholarships.
Kenny Campbell never sought the spotlight. His wife of 45 years, Suzanne, put it best: “He didn’t turn a corner on himself.” Campbell was a humble, thoughtful and kind man, according to those who knew him best. He was often seen working on something for his friends, neighbors, and loved ones. After Campbell passed away, Suzanne visited the Chautauqua Area Community Foundation to explore options for memorializing Campbell by giving back to the community. Mrs. Campbell said she heard about the impact the Workforce Development Scholarship would have and knew it was the right fit. She established the Kenny L. Campbell Scholarship Fund to support job training and certification opportunities for local residents.
Campbell spent his career in telecommunications, working locally and throughout the region. He was known as a rather modest and unassuming person, but he loved wearing colorful Crocs, tie-dyed T-shirts with pockets, and suspenders that doubled as tape measure.
“This scholarship is for people who want to further their career and enjoy working with their hands,” Mrs Campbell said. “Kenny made a living through his hands-on work and this scholarship will help others do the same. Our family and friends have made this fund available in Kenny’s honor. We’re actively working to make it what it is and I’m very happy to be able to do that for him.”
The Chautauqua Area Community Foundation manages more than 700 endowments.
