On a beautiful Sunday, thousands of people gathered for the 36th annual Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk to raise $9.5 million for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
The fundraiser has raised more than $176 million in its 35-year history, supporting all forms of adult and pediatric care and cancer research at Dana-Farber, the world’s leading cancer research and treatment center. Masu. Last year’s walk broke fundraising records, raising more than $9.4 million.
An estimated 8,500 walkers, including patients, survivors, family members, caregivers, and Dana-Farber faculty and staff, were expected to walk up to 42.2 miles along the historic Boston Marathon course.
The Jimmy Fund Walk is the only organized walk allowed to use this famous course, and participants can choose from four distance options: 10,000 (approximately 11 miles from Newton); half marathon (approximately 21.4 miles from Wellesley) or marathon (approximately 44 miles from Hopkinton).

Hundreds of volunteers lined the route and provided refreshments throughout the day. Inspiring posters of DFCI patients, called Jimmy Fund Walk Heroes, were also displayed along the course to motivate walkers.
Additionally, buildings around Boston will be lit up to show support for Walking, including City Hall, TD Garden, Prudential Tower, 888 Boylston, W Boston, Hub on Causeway Office Tower, and Boston Harbor Hotel & Loews Wharf . .
Due to ongoing construction, all four routes ended at the Jimmy Fund Walk finish line at the corner of Charles and Beacon Streets, where a celebration was held with food, entertainment and more.
