Jefferson City, Missouri (KMIZ)
In a press release Wednesday evening, Jefferson City said no employees will be left without health insurance.
The city wrote that the City Council on Monday approved an agreement with Quantify Specialty Care to assist employees with “more complex medical needs.”
“Currently, the City’s Health Trust Fund generates approximately $4.5 million annually. Unfortunately, this year’s projected bill is expected to reach $6.5 million, leaving us with a $2 million shortfall each year. This gap represents an unsustainable financial situation that, if left unaddressed, could jeopardize the entire program in the future. “You may be faced with the harsh reality that you must do so,” the release states.
The city is working with health plan providers to identify organizations that can offer treatment options to members, according to the release.
