Daha police today seized the smugglers’ property.
This property was built by a woman using drug money proceeds. Dhaka Police Deputy Superintendent Varinder Singh Khosa, along with Dhaka Station Officer, Inspector Gurvinder Singh and others, posted a property seizure notice on the suspect’s home.
She was identified as Sunita, a resident of Khairpur Baraichi village in Dhaka.
According to the DSP, Sunita was arrested by Dhaka police in November 2022 along with 700 kg of poppy husks. During the subsequent investigation, police discovered that the suspect had amassed a fortune from drug proceeds. She used the drug money to build a house in Daka’s Baraichi village. The value of the attached dwelling is Rs 11.09 million.
Khosa said that after preparing the case, it was sent to the competent authority in New Delhi for approval and after getting approval, a property attachment notice was pasted at the suspect’s house today.
He said the records of drug smugglers under the jurisdiction of Dhaka police were being scrutinized and if anyone was found to have made a fortune from drug proceeds, their assets would be confiscated by law.
Sources said a lawsuit seeking approval to seize the drug smugglers’ properties is already pending with the competent authorities.
