The Indiana State Board of Education voted Monday night to transfer $300,000 from the general fund to the capital reserve fund.
Audit and Finance Committee Chair Julia Trimarchi Cuccaro said the money came from surpluses from last year’s budget. She said the district has received more funding from the state than originally expected and expects to receive even more funding from earned income taxes.

It’s unclear whether this trend will continue, but the additional funding could be a big help for some district projects.

Also last night, the board did not act on a motion to hire a prominent architect to renovate the high school’s science and child care classrooms. Heinrich said he received one bid and found several more to submit proposals. This will give these companies more time to submit bids for consideration before the next regular board meeting on October 28th.
