PARKERSBURG — United Way Group of West Virginia received a total of $102,000 from the Highmark West Virginia Health Charitable Fund last week.
This allocation marks the fourth consecutive year that the Health Charitable Fund has provided funding to a government agency, totaling $404,000.
“We are pleased to contribute to the important work of United Way organizations across the Mountain State and help make a positive difference in the lives of families and residents,” said Jim Fawcett, President of Highmark West Virginia. said. “Through this fund, we are committed to strengthening communities in all 55 counties, and our partnership with United Way is a key element in achieving that goal.”
Grants ranging from $3,000 to $25,000 support programs that address critical needs within the community. United Way agents in areas with high concentrations of Highmark West Virginia members will each receive $25,000, and the remaining agents will each receive $3,000.
United Way of the Upper Ohio Valley, United Way of Central West Virginia and United Way Alliance of the Mid-Ohio Valley each received $25,000.
United Way of Southern West Virginia, United Way of Harrison and Doddridge Counties, United Way of River City, United Way of Greenbrier Valley, United Way of Tygart Valley, and United Way of Eastern Panhandle. Way, United Way of Monongalia Preston County, United Way of Monongalia County, United Way of Gilmer, Lewis and Upshur each received $3,000.
Since its founding in 2021, the Highmark West Virginia Health Charitable Fund has distributed more than $6 million in grants to West Virginia-based nonprofit organizations.
Highmark West Virginia Health Charitable Fund is a restricted fund of the Highmark Foundation. The Health Charities Foundation’s mission is to improve the health, well-being, and quality of life of individuals residing in West Virginia.
