Police on Tuesday seized assets worth Rs 99.29 million of two drug peddlers under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act.
Commissioner of Police (CP) Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said a special campaign has been launched to seize properties bought by drug dealers with money earned from illegal transactions.
In a drive to curb drug smuggling, Jasbir Singh (SHO) of Islamabad Police Station has arrested drug smuggler Ranjit Singh (also known as Kaka), a resident of Lolawali village in Garinda area on the India-Pakistan border. Efforts were made to seize property. Ranjit had purchased movable and immovable properties worth Rs 61.29 million through drug money.
A drug trafficking case under sections 21C, 25, 27A, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act was registered against Ranjit at Islamabad police station for smuggling heroin. He was arrested with 2 kg of heroin, 2.07 million rupees in drug money, two pistols and 45 cartridges.
Similarly, Gate Hakima police seized the properties of drug smuggler Harmandeep Singh, a resident of Dandaiwala village in Chola Sahib area of Tarn Taran district. According to Gate Hakima police station chief Manjit Kaur, he used the money earned from illegal drug trade to buy properties worth Rs 38 million. A case under the NDPS Act was registered against Harmandeep. He was arrested with 3 kg of heroin, 5.25 million rupees in drug money and two cars.
