The September jobs report released Friday revealed that the U.S. economy added 254,000 jobs, more than economists expected by 150,000. In light of this strong job market, Shirley Davis, President of SDS Global Enterprises, Inc., joins us to provide valuable tips on the job search.
Davis emphasizes the importance of “leveraging your network,” which can provide job referrals, insight into workplace culture, and information about the skills you need. She encourages job seekers to view each opportunity as an opportunity to “grow and thrive.” Davis even suggests using AI in job searches to gain deeper insight into career development.
“Be clear about not only your skills, talents, talents, and strengths, but also the results and value you bring to the organization,” Davis advises. “Be very careful about salary. Justify the salary range you’re asking for and do it with clarity, conviction and confidence,” she tells Yahoo Finance.
Davis also warns job seekers about “golden handcuffs.” This is an attractive offer from the current employer aimed at retaining staff, which may not be in the employee’s best interests in the long term.
