EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) – Evansville’s Rumble Boxing held two fundraising classes Saturday morning with all proceeds going to Matt Redd’s family.
“Matt is an amazing guy. He just has the biggest heart,” said his sister-in-law Stephanie McGee. “You don’t have to know him to love him.”
As we previously reported, Evansville sports legend Clint Keown died in a car accident.
Keown’s best friend Matt Redd was also in the car and is still fighting for his life in hospital.
“He’s consistent, he has some memory, he knows who everyone is,” McGee said. “It’s going to take some time because we have a lot of work to do, but he’s beating all odds.”
While he continues to beat the odds, the Rumble boxers are doing everything in their power to help him fight.
“We’re all inspired by something, so when you’re working out and burning calories and building muscle, it’s more impactful and gives you that extra push when you have a meaning behind it.” I think it will,” the Rumble owner said. Antonio Compton.
Compton is also a friend of Matt’s family.
He planned two fundraising classes to not only give people an extra boost, but also help them financially.
“One hundred percent of the proceeds will go to the family,” Compton said.
Compton’s generosity was such that Matt’s sister-in-law and mother-in-law showed up to express their gratitude.
“They called me yesterday and said they wanted to stop by and show their support and bring pictures, and I thought about taking a class, but I don’t think it worked out,” Compton said.
Even if I didn’t take the class, I’m grateful for what it did for my family.
“When my sister wakes up every morning and goes to support her husband, it really helps to know that someone is there supporting her,” Maggie said. “It means a lot to me to know how good this community is.”
Those who have taken the class say they are so glad they were able to contribute.
“We’re just happy to be able to do and do what we’re trying to do here,” said Sherry Ryan, one of the participants.
“It’s a special time to encourage Matt to keep fighting,” Compton said.
