The Door County Broadband Office, Door County Economic Development Corporation, and New North Inc. are doing their part to ensure reliable internet access in our community. The two organizations will collaborate at the Regional Broadband Summit on October 24th to showcase past and future achievements. Many Door County municipalities, including Washington Island, Sturgeon Bay, Baileys Harbor, Egg Harbor, and the town of Sevastopol, are already connected to internet service providers to provide the services their residents need to live and work. We are beginning to lay the foundation for this. area. This summit comes at a perfect time to make the case for why broadband is a critical investment for internet service providers. Door County Broadband Coordinator Jessica Hatch said contractors are preparing to bid for the next round of Broadband Equity Access Deployment (BEAD) grants, which allow local governments to help communities will go a long way in assisting you in securing the necessary infrastructure to connect.
The event will feature panels highlighting the impact of reliable internet on secondary residents and innovations that have positively impacted education, healthcare, agriculture, and manufacturing. The summit will be held at Stone Harbor Resort in Sturgeon Bay on October 24th from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Registration is now open and runs until October 21st.
