FERGUSON, Mo. — Restaurants in the St. Louis area came together Tuesday to raise money for Ferguson Police Officer Travis “TJ” Brown.
Brown suffered severe brain injuries after being thrown to the ground during a protest on August 9th.
Brown’s family said he still has a long way to go in his recovery, but has made significant progress.
“He’s not at the point where he can communicate, but he’s been responsive to us and we believe he knows what’s going on,” said his sister Christina Bailey. he said.
Brown said her brother cried last week when he saw his young daughters for the first time since his injury.
“He’s smiling. He can hold his hand now,” she said, noting signs of progress. “There are moments where he’s awake and they’re doing little things to help him move, stand up, sit up straight.”
In early October, Brown’s family said doctors were tapering off the sedation and that Brown’s pneumonia symptoms were subsiding.
On September 25th, his family announced on a GoFundMe page that he had successfully undergone important procedures to aid his recovery.
A portion of the restaurant’s proceeds from Tuesday’s event will support Brown’s recovery.

“Come on, get out there. It’s a good cause. Spread the love in different ways. Even if it’s just to eat here, 10% of that goes a long way,” Graham added. Ta.
The family said every little thing helps.
“We are realizing the power in numbers of all the prayers. We are so grateful,” Bailey said.
