Cody Garbrandt will play his final fight on his contract at UFC Fight Night 247.
Garbrandt (14-6 MMA, 9-6 UFC) will face Myles Johns (15-2 MMA, 6-2 UFC) in a bantamweight bout at UFC Apex on November 9th in Las Vegas.
“No Love” said he has a good relationship with UFC CEO Dana White and wants the Octagon to remain his home. He hopes to reach a deal that will keep him a UFC fighter.
“[I’m]still going through some things in the UFC. This is my last fight on the contract, so I have to work with them and figure out what we can do,” Garbrandt said on Jackson’s podcast. spoke. “I would love to (re-sign). I love the UFC, especially seeing where the sport is going. I love mixed martial arts. Obviously, the UFC is the premier league to fight in. But… As you know, money speaks.”
Garbrandt has already reached the top, winning the UFC bantamweight title from Dominick Cruz in one of the most memorable championship-winning performances in the company’s history. He’s had many ups and downs since then, but what keeps Garbrandt going?
“For me, that’s not satisfying,” Garbrandt said. “I don’t think there was any sense of fulfillment even though I won the title. Even though I won, I was like, ‘Huh?’ Because I think I was obsessed with it for a long time and imagined myself doing it. And when I did it, it wasn’t like a big surprise, “Oh, shit, I did that.” Of course, the people around me who were with me from the beginning were happy.
“I don’t know. I’m still chasing what I was chasing, just something is different. …Right now, I’m just chasing other things that are in my head because I love it. I love to fight, but this window closes every day, and I can only fight for so long. Lord, I will stay healthy and live another five or eight years. .”
