Donations to this fund will not only help with Candler County’s hurricane recovery efforts, but will also provide support to businesses lost in the fire that broke out in downtown Metter on Saturday night.
The Candler Strong Fund was established to assist those affected by disasters in Candler County, including the devastation caused by Hurricane Helen. Hurricane Helen’s damage was followed by a devastating commercial fire in downtown Metter over the weekend.
Firefighters worked tirelessly to stop the fire from spreading, but four businesses were destroyed, including Ally’s Restaurant, The Flower Basket, Labor Michoacano, and Riley & Co. Hair Salon.
The Candler Strong Fund is currently accepting donations for both hurricane relief and fire relief for these companies. Please indicate in your donation comment whether you would like your funds to be specifically used for any of these needs. In the absence of a request, the Candler Strong Committee will exercise its sole discretion to apply funds where they are most needed.
