Bollywood actor Sunil Shetty and his son Ahan Shetty have bought a 1,200 sq ft property in Mumbai for Rs 8.01 billion through a bank auction, accessed through proptech platform Square Yard. This was revealed in real estate registration documents.

According to documents, the property is located in Khar West (Bandra) area of the financial capital. Square Yard said it was a “certificate of sale” and that the property had been purchased by father and son at a bank auction.
Further, the transaction was completed in October 2024 and included stamp duty fees of Rs 40.08 million and registration fees of Rs 30,000, the documents show.

Sunil Shetty could not be reached for comment.
Square Yard pointed out that other prominent celebrities such as Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, KL Rahul and Athiya Shetty have recently invested in Bandra, Mumbai. It is a very attractive area due to its proximity to the Bandra Kurla Complex and the commercial hubs of Worli and Andheri.
According to Square Yard, the area is very popular among high-profile homebuyers due to its excellent amenities, excellent infrastructure and easy access to key areas as well as the international airport. .

Earlier this week, Bollywood father-son duo Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan made headlines after they bought 10 apartments worth Rs 2,495 crore in Mumbai’s Mulund area.
According to property registration documents shared by Square Yard, the 10 apartments were purchased by Oberoi Realty in a project called ‘Oberoi Eternia’.

Eight of the 10 apartments will each have 1,049 square feet of carpet area, and two will have spans of 912 square feet per unit, according to documents.
According to documents, stamp duty of Rs 1.5 crore and registration fee of Rs 300,000 were paid for the 10 flats. All apartments were registered on October 9, 2024.
For decades, Mumbai’s real estate market has attracted attention from the Bollywood fraternity as a priority investment area, especially for commercial real estate. The long list of celebrity clientele also includes younger generation actors such as Sara Ali Khan and Kartik Aaryan, as well as several big names.

Experts believe that the high rental yield of commercial real estate and the rising price of residential real estate in financial capital are responsible for this trend.
