Cardiff City midfielder Emma Beynon has announced her retirement from football.
The former Wales international revealed and announced that he is expecting his second child.
Beynon, 28, was named Bluebirds’ player of the year last season after winning the Welsh treble with his goal against Wrexham in the Welsh Cup.
Beynon, who won his cap under manager Jane Ludlow in 2017, spent 10 years at Swansea City, winning four titles with Wales before moving to Cardiff last summer.
Cardiff and Swansea paid tribute to Beynon, who confirmed the news on social media, saying: “I will be forever grateful to the players, staff and club for their belief in me.”
“This past year as a Bluebird has been one of the most memorable seasons I’ve ever played football.
“Winning the treble and winning the player’s award last season felt like the perfect end to an incredible 22-year career in football.
“I am delighted with everything I have achieved through football, from Champions League football to my first senior cap for Wales, playing at all youth levels and captaining my country.
“We’ve had our ups and downs, but one thing is for sure: my family has always been there for me. I’ll be forever grateful for the love and support they’ve given me, but now I’m a family of four. I am ready for the next chapter of my life.”
