GERMANTOWN, Tenn. (WMC) – A group in Germantown is hitting the road, but it’s not what you might think. Bikers from around the Mid-South gathered for the 14th time to cycle from Germantown to Rosemary Beach, Florida.
The Ride to Rosemary started in 2011 when one of our founders was going through some challenges in her life and was looking for a new passion to focus on to help her mental, emotional and physical health. Ta.

One of the founders, Todd Tillmans, came up with the idea of donating the funds raised to the Cancer Center of the West.
“One of the men in the car asked me how he felt about raising money for the Foundation, a non-profit organization that supports cancer patients, because his wife’s dearest friend had breast cancer. And we all said, that’s great, let’s do it,”’ Tillmans said.
71 cyclists raising $300,000 and covering 500 miles in five days is what Tillmans and the rest of the riders were ready for.
West Kenner Foundation President Regian Soden said it was very special to see all of their work.
“It’s thrilling to see how hard they work and train to raise money for the West Cancer Foundation. It’s amazing,” Soden said.
Over the past 13 years, the group has raised $2.5 million to pay for breast exams, transportation to and from oncology appointments, wigs, post-surgery clothing, and more.
Tillmans said she is grateful to be able to participate in the ride every year and help those who need it most.
“We get through it because we are a team. We have God and He is always with us. We pray for our patients and we are dedicated to working with them every morning.” Like all good things, it’s on us,”’ Tillmans said.
