Netflix loves real estate shows. The platform has invested in several real estate projects in recent years, including the acquisition of Beverly Hills and ownership of Manhattan. If you’re a real estate geek looking for a new series to dive into, we’ve got you covered. If you want high-end properties, intense negotiations, and boring drama, this is the list for you.
Here are the best real estate shows on Netflix right now…
Selling Sunset – 8 seasons and one of the Netflix OGs
Selling Sunset is one of Netflix’s first projects in the reality real estate genre. The show first aired in March 2019 and quickly gained a loyal fan base. The docuseries follows a group of impossibly handsome agents from Jason and Brett Oppenheim’s luxury real estate brokerage, The Oppenheim Group. Selling Sunset strikes the perfect balance between real estate porn and glamorous reality TV. I mean, who wouldn’t want to see two sexy women battle it out on one of Los Angeles’ hottest properties?
After eight seasons on the air, Selling Sunset continues to captivate viewers and secure its place as one of the most successful real estate reality shows on television.
Buy Beverly Hills – Watched 2 seasons on Netflix, now canceled
Bravo fans were elated when Netflix greenlit a reality show focusing on RHOBH star Mauricio Umansky’s real estate brokerage, The Agency. The show, which first aired in November 2022, focused on a group of the company’s agents based in California. Although Mauricio’s appearances were sparse, his daughters Farah Aljufri and Alexia Umansky played major roles in the show. While Farrah has been working at the agency for years, Alexia was at the start of her career. It was fun watching her navigate the business and make some mistakes along the way.
Unfortunately, the show was canceled after two seasons, but episodes are still available to stream on Netflix.
Owning Manhattan – Season 1 (Updated on Netflix)
Owning Manhattan is Netflix’s newest real estate show and the platform’s first series focused on the New York market. The show follows Million Dollar Listing star Ryan Serhant and a group of agents at his New York brokerage firm. There are many reasons why this show stands out from the rest. First, Ryan’s inside knowledge of the business is second to none. This man knows real estate and has sold some of the most impressive properties on the market. Another reason Owning Manhattan resonated with fans is its location. After all, there’s no place like New York.
Reality Tea caught up with Ryan ahead of the premiere. He talked about what makes Owning Manhattan unique.
“First of all, this is the only New York City real estate show that airs on television worldwide. It’s also Netflix’s first New York real estate show,” he said. “(It’s) the craziest real estate show you’ve ever seen. The most dramatic workplace reality show you’ve ever seen. And probably the craziest real estate show you’ve ever seen.”
“Selling the OC” – 3 seasons of “Selling Sunset” spin-off
“Selling the OC” is derived from “Selling Sunset.” The Oppenheim Group opened another brokerage just 40 miles from its Los Angeles base, and Netflix jumped at the chance to produce another California real estate show. If you liked Selling Sunset, you’ll also enjoy Selling the OC. The same goes for the special sauce, which makes you wonder how you managed to watch all seven episodes in one sitting. The markets may be different, but Selling Sunset and Selling the OC feel like the same thing. The property is insane and the agents look like Barbie dolls.
Selling Tampa – Season 1 on Netflix
Selling Tampa is for the girls. The series follows the all-female real estate team at Florida-based brokerage firm Allure Realty. The cast is diverse, dynamic, and not afraid to cause a little drama. The cast isn’t the only appealing part of this show. Fans may focus on the drama, but they’ll probably stick with high-end real estate. Tampa’s market is unique and different from other markets featured on Netflix.
This series only lasted one season, but that doesn’t mean you should check it out. The first season was a lot of fun and featured some really great properties. The focus on female entrepreneurship was also interesting. “Selling Tampa” had all the makings of a great Netflix reality show. It’s a shame there wasn’t another season.
