Sweetwater County Assessor Dave Davis encourages property owners to contact his office if they have questions about the assessments they will receive in the mail this week.
GREEN RIVER – Property owners in Sweetwater County may be able to qualify for a long-term homeowner tax exemption passed by the Wyoming General Assembly earlier this year.
This exemption reduces property taxes by 50% for eligible applicants. Owners must live in the home for at least eight months of the year, one owner must be 65 years old as of the fourth Monday of May 2025, and have paid taxes in Wyoming for 25 years. Must be.
The Sweetwater County Assessor’s Office will have representatives at senior centers in Rock Springs and Green River to help residents apply for exemptions. Office employees will be present at the Young at Heart Senior Center in Rock Springs on October 10th from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., and at the Golden at Green River on October 17th from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Attend Our Senior Center. The office will verify whether any of the property owners meet the age requirements and will ask applicants to provide identification with their date of birth at the time of application. Applications must be completed and submitted to the Examiner’s Office by the fourth Monday of 2025.
