The 2024 Wyoming Women’s Foundation All-Women Pronghorn Hunt was held Oct. 10-13 at the Ucross Ranch. One event that attracts many quality donations and many bidders is our annual fundraising auction.
Communications and Events Coordinator Alex Shannon spoke about how some of the funds raised will be used.
Mr Shannon said: “We will be wrapping up our fundraising campaign over the next few weeks and are hoping for a strong return.” “To show our gratitude to the generous landowners and neighbors of Buffalo, Sheridan, and the surrounding towns (no town has escaped the stress and loss of this year’s fires), we will donate a portion of our proceeds. Donate to Wyoming Ranchers Fire Relief Fund.”
She gave a breakdown of the 2024 pronghorn hunt. Forty-six hunters representing 17 states participated in the hunt. Thirty-seven hunters harvested animals and 19 hunters harvested animals for the first time. She said 26 of the 37 fish were harvested with just one shot. She added that 11 hunters donated their entire harvest and several others donated a portion.
“This year, the first lady will be covering the entire cost of processing donations! (Donors previously paid a portion),” Shannon added.
WYWF’s mission is to invest in women’s economic independence. Teaching women to hunt helps them provide nutritious meals for their families and fulfills WYWF’s mission.
This hunt focuses on hunter safety, hunting and land ethics, and conservation and proper management of wild natural resources to ensure an enjoyable experience for participants, guides, and landowners. In line with this mission, eight hunters this year learned more about self-sufficiency by processing their harvest themselves with the help of experienced volunteers.
