These numbers are current as of report submitted by 7 a.m. Monday, Oct. 14.
Four 49ers independent spending committees added $5,000 to the committee, increasing total contributions to $1,574,000. PAC spent an additional $243,000, bringing the total to $771,000. All donations to these committees come from the 49ers.
The Police Union PAC received an additional $70,000, bringing total donations to $137,810.00. Last week, PAC received $50,000 from the Santa Clara Police Union and $20,000 from a DevCon construction executive and his family.

Historically, since 2016, police union PACs have gotten most of their political campaign funding from developers. Also known as “gray money,” this practice allows donors to hide behind organizations with more public trust.
For example, committees with names like “Responsible Neighbors…” are often fronts for real estate organizations, developers, and labor unions. These groups cannot elicit the kind of trust that “neighbors” have.
A letter from the Santa Clara Firefighters Union PAC arrived in my mailbox last week, but the PAC does not appear to have filed any financial reports with the city or county during this election cycle.
There were no new candidate financial reports last week, and the campaign’s war chest remained unchanged since October 6th.
