The Idaho Department of Insurance is advertising free information as open enrollment in Medicare begins Tuesday.
State insurance agencies are also encouraging eligible and existing enrollees to consider plan options and costs during the open application period for federal health programs that provide health insurance to older Americans.
When is Medicare open enrollment? What is it?

The Idaho Department of Insurance announced in a news release this month that it’s now time for Idahoans to enroll in a new plan or make changes to their existing plan for prescription drugs and Medicare benefits.
The Idaho Department of Insurance also allows people to protect themselves from inappropriate marketing during open enrollment by visiting its website online at doi.idaho.gov/shiba/medicare-improper-marketing/. says it can be done.
“Medicare can be confusing, and plans and personal circumstances can change. If you are an Idaho senior on Medicare and want to take the time to review your plan during the open enrollment period. It is important to choose the plan that best fits your medical needs,” said Dean Cameron, director of the Idaho Department of Insurance, in a release.
