LINCOLN, Neb. — Eighth grade students from across the state could be headed to a college campus after the EducationQuest Foundation awarded grants to 78 Nebraska schools.
The foundation announced Tuesday that each school will be awarded a total of nearly $50,000.
Schools will use grants of up to $1,350 to fund college visits and related activities to help students prepare for college.
The Foundation’s goal is simple. It’s about helping students prepare for university.
“When young students step on a college campus, they feel more empowered to pursue their higher education goals. Our 8th Grade Campus Visit Grant allows Nebraska students to experience the vibrancy of a college campus. You can experience the atmosphere first-hand, explore career paths and learn about funding options,” said Eric Drumheller, vice president of EducationQuest.
The 8th grade campus visit is awarded annually and is one of several EducationQuest programs that improve access to higher education in the state.
EducationQuest announced that since 2011, it has awarded more than $430,000 in eighth grade campus visit grants to 249 Nebraska schools.
