Sports and business leaders back America’s first professional table tennis league
PRINCETON, N.J. , Oct. 9, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — Building on the momentum of a highly successful first year of the 2023-24 season, Major League Table Tennis (MLTT) today announced new initiatives to accelerate growth and continue momentum. Announced a major strategic investment round. It will completely change the landscape of professional table tennis in North America.
The $5.5 million investment, secured from influential figures in the sports industry, includes David Blitzer, a senior Blackstone executive and the only person to own team stock in the five major North American sports leagues; are. and Daryl Morey, director of basketball operations for the Philadelphia 76ers. More than 20 other business leaders also participated in this investment round, highlighting MLTT’s vast potential, broad appeal, and growing profile in the sports and entertainment space.

Strategic Expansion Initiative: Expand MLTT’s footprint by adding teams in untapped markets, increasing the league’s national presence and reaching new fans. Improving player development: Invest in Minor League Table Tennis (MiLTT) to develop table tennis at the grassroots level. Technology Innovation: Integrating and deploying advanced technology to create immersive and interactive viewing experiences that bring fans closer to the action. Acquisition of elite talent: Aggressively scout and sign world-class international athletes, including more Olympians, to increase competition and excitement.
The MLTT is in its second season, wrapping up its third tournament of the year in Chicago last week and moving to Miami for its next tournament Nov. 1-3. Twelve MLTT athletes competed at the Paris Olympics, including the entire U.S. women’s team. Since late July 2024, fans and followers have watched over 40,000 hours of MLTT content across social media channels alone, including growth to over 2.5 million fans from social media.
