MINOT, N.D. (KMOT) – Minot residents will see a lower percentage of their city property taxes next year.
Parliament approved the 2025 budget in second reading on Monday night.
The adopted 2025 budget is $225,667,824. This is an increase of just over 13% over the 2024 budget of $199,398,060.
For a home valued at $100,000, the homeowner would pay $437 in property taxes per year.
This would be a little over $100 less than the $539.69 2024 property tax bill.
The final budget passed 5-2 with City Council members Mark Jantzer and Lisa Olson voting against it. Jantzer and Olson both expressed concerns about the council’s vote to use reserve funds to offset property taxes before the final vote.
Other City Council members who supported the move, including Rob Fuller and Mike Blessum, said residents have been overtaxed in the past and the city’s move to lower property taxes is He said it was modest compared to what could be done.
This specifically pertains to the City of Minot’s budget and does not take into account county, school district or park district property taxes.
