More than 1 million property tax bills have been sent to property owners in San Diego County, and the payments are expected to generate a record $9.08 billion, the county treasurer and tax collector says. Officials made the announcement on Monday.
1,017,929 mortgaged property tax bills for 2024-2025 will be sent to property owners this week.
“$9.08 billion is a record number, and these property taxes will be put to good use to fund critical county and city services,” said County Treasurer and Tax Collector Dan McAllister. said. “Public health, schools, and many other necessary services are funded by these taxes, so we encourage taxpayers to pay their taxes as soon as possible.”
He reminded San Diegans that paying early means there are no penalties. All bills can be viewed and paid using electronic checks at sdttc.com.
The first payment is due on November 1st and becomes delinquent after December 10th. The second payment is due February 1, 2025 and becomes past due after April 10, 2025.
If you have not received your property tax bill in the mail by October 31st, please visit sdttc.com. Property owners who have not received their tax bill by Oct. 31 should check their tax bill information online or call the Treasurer’s Office of the Tax Collector at 877-829-4732.
In 2023, McAllister is expected to send out more than 1 million property tax bills, generating $8.63 billion in tax revenue. Debt has increased by about $500 million each year for two consecutive years.
