The city police arrested as many as 71 property criminals involved in 77 cases in September and recovered stolen property worth around Rs 45 million.
105 property crimes were reported under various heads in the city during September, Superintendent of Police Shankhabrata Bagki said at a press conference on the ‘Monthly Recovery Mela’ held at the police conference hall here on Sunday. said. A special team reportedly found 77 of them.
Among the cases uncovered, 1 was robbery, 4 were home invasions during the day, 13 were HBs during the night, 9 were snatching, 1 was theft of an auto tricycle, 23 were theft of a motorbike, and 23 were the rest. It becomes. Shankhabrata Bagki said 26 cases were other thefts.
The recovered items include 1,204.06 grams (1.2 kg) of gold, 943.43 grams of silver and 1.54 million rupees in cash, he added.
Apart from the above properties, 272 stolen mobile phones worth £4,080,000 were also recovered. This brings the total amount of recovered property to around Rs 86.24 million, he said.
Shankhabrata Bagki praised the crime branch’s performance, saying that last month the team recovered properties worth around Rs 66 million, but this month has improved.
He also said that previously, the police would wait for court orders before distributing the recovered items, but now they notify the court before distributing them to the victims.
Shankhabrata Bagki said 335 surveillance cameras were installed at various locations during September as part of preventive measures. As many as 178 crime awareness meetings were held by the officers of the crime control department to raise awareness among the public about the types of crimes, criminals and how to install CC cameras. Special patrols of crime-prone areas were carried out at night with crime teams from different parts of the city.
