Massive exploitation to benefit Bassett Healthcare Network’s Cancer Fund
FLY CREEK — Fly Creek Cider Mill & Orchard will hold its annual fundraising “Big Squeeze” event this Saturday, Oct. 5, in honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The plant will donate proceeds from Saturday’s sale of gallons and halves of cider to the Bassett Healthcare Network through its “Friends of Bassett” initiative.
During the Big Squeeze event, the Bassett Cancer Services Program will host an information table from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to provide program details and education on early detection of breast cancer.
Participants also received information about free cancer screenings for underinsured and uninsured women ages 40 and older and men ages 45 and older provided by local CSP recruiters. There is also an opportunity to receive information. Eligible individuals have access to a wide range of services, including mammography, pelvic exams, clinical breast exams, Pap tests, and HPV testing, as needed.
Walk-in appointments are available to both insured and uninsured people who are scheduled to be screened, and eligible participants will be provided with a take-home colon cancer screening kit.
“The success of this Big Squeeze fundraiser allows our venue to promote early detection of breast cancer,” said Bill Michaels, owner of Fly Creek Cider Mill and Orchard.
