PayPoint completes investment in obconnect
In addition to the August 1, 2024 announcement, PayPoint can confirm that it has successfully completed a strategic investment in obconnect, a leading open banking technology provider, following FCA approval. PayPoint currently controls 55.3% of the business. This investment will enable the group to further leverage its open banking technology platform and capture greater opportunities within both businesses.
This follows the announcement on 10 October 2024 that obconnect has secured a contract to partner with the New Zealand Bankers Association (NZBA) to provide a beneficiary verification ecosystem in New Zealand. The agreement will initially see obconnect verify beneficiaries with major New Zealand banks from November 2024, including ANZ, ASB, Bank of China, BNZ, CCB, The Co-operative Bank, Heartland Bank, ICBC, Kiwibank, Rabobank and SBS.
