Salma Hayek is an independent woman.
The “Frida” star has opened up about her motivations for earning her own income despite her husband Francois-Henri Pinault’s multibillion-dollar family fortune.
“I support many aspects of my life and myself,” the actress said in an interview with WSJ. Magazine published on Tuesdays.
“There’s pressure to make a certain amount of money, but I like it. And now I’ve decided I want to make more.”

Hayek, 58, added that she and her husband keep their finances “separate” despite “no prenuptial agreement dividing assets.”
She said the 62-year-old French businessman admires her work ethic.
“I think he finds it sexy in a way,” she said.
The House of Gucci star, who shares 17-year-old daughter Valentina with Pinault, also revealed that she is considering several ideas for an adventure with Pinault.

Hayek was born wealthy thanks to her father’s position as an oil executive, but lost her fortune by the time she was in her 20s, the paper said.
The Mexican-born actress later moved to Los Angeles and eventually became the breadwinner for her family in her hometown.
“That’s when I became the best version of myself,” she said.
After marrying Pinault, CEO of luxury retail group Kering, Hayek recalled that people around her always wanted to talk about money.

“For me, the excitement of having a lot of money was that I didn’t have to think about money. And I realized that all people wanted to talk to me about was money.” Hayek said.
The “Eternals” star also noticed that other wealthy people wanted to be friends with her simply because of her bank account.
“Strangers come up to me who aren’t even friends, but they think we should be friends because we’re rich,” she said.

Hayek and Pinault celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary on April 25 earlier this year.
The actress commemorated the milestone by sharing a photo from her special day on a merry-go-round on Instagram.
“There are no words to describe the joy of finding my soulmate,” she wrote in the caption.
“For those of you who have found it, never take it for granted. For those of you who have not yet found it, never give up on the best day of your life.”
