The new fund builds on the success of Big Idea Ventures’ New Protein Fund I, which supports and invests in companies focused on proteins, fats, ingredients, sweeteners, flavors, and single crops. BiomeMega (Australia): Produces sustainable omega fatty acids from probiotic bacteria with a wide range of applications including food, animal nutrition and cosmeceuticals.
Future Biome (Argentina and Uruguay): We are developing new types of prebiotics that target health issues related to the microbiome, such as chronic inflammation. Their platform customizes precision fungal prebiotics to individual microbiota.
MEATOSYS (Germany): Allows farmers to produce cultured meat on-farm using cells from their own animals. They provide turnkey automated production systems and business concepts to farmers and sell the produced meat to the processing industry.
Nalca Biotech (Chile): Builds a continuous modular production line for precision fermentation. This modern infrastructure is faster and easier to use than traditional batch-based systems.
NanoInGreen (Argentina and Chile): Developed highly absorbable probiotic bacteria-based ingredients. The first product is an iron replacement, with future developments focusing on vitamins, minerals and natural preservatives.
Renew Food (UK): Specializes in protein-based flavor ingredients. The company is currently developing a heme protein that gives plant-based meat an authentic meat taste.
