The new trailer for Netflix’s A Man on the Inside features Charles, played by Ted Danson. Charles is a retired widow who finds interesting ways to “keep busy” in his golden years. He becomes Gumshoe.
Based on the true story that inspired the Oscar-nominated documentary “Mall Agent,” Charles answers an ad for an “investigative assistant” and goes undercover at a retirement community to get to the bottom of an expensive necklace robbery.
But once he gets the hang of spycraft, including video glasses and secret recording devices, he seems to be having too much fun with it. “This place is crazy!” one resident tells him, and he enthuses that happy hour is as good as an early bird perk for some residents.
Along the way, he develops friendships with the people he was supposed to investigate, and also befriends his daughter, who has been worried about how lonely Charles has been since his wife died.
Executive producer Michael Schull is reteaming with The Good Place star Danson for the eight-episode series, which also stars Sally Struthers, Mary Elizabeth Ellis, Fences star Stephen McKinley Henderson, and Loki alumnus. Eugene Cordero and another surreal veteran, Brooklyn Nine-Nine star Stephanie Beatriz, also appear. .
A Man on the Inside premieres on Netflix on November 21st.
