Pediatrician joins Franciscans in Michigan City
Pediatrician Dr. Adam Sergieva is now part of the Franciscan Physician Network and is accepting new patients in Michigan City, according to the release.
Sergiwa attended medical school at Al-Arab Medical University in Benghazi, Libya. He completed his training at Columbia University New York’s St. Luke Roosevelt Hospital, the release said.

Hobart chamber leader retires
The Hobart Chamber of Commerce has announced the retirement of Executive Director Jay Harrigan, according to a release.
Harrigan was born and raised in Hobart and his family has been in the real estate business for over 75 years. He has held a number of community service positions including former Hobart Chamber of Commerce Director. Former Hobart Kiwanis President. Director of the Maria Reiner Center. South Shore Arts, leader of NWI Symphony Orchestra retires
Dave Mika, executive director of the South Shore Arts & Northwest Indiana Symphony Orchestra, has announced his retirement, according to a release.
Mr. Mika was a former board member of both organizations before assuming his current role in 2020. According to the release, Mika’s contract expires at the end of June.

OE receives funding for wheelchair accessible golf cart
To fulfill its mission of creating inclusive and equitable opportunities for people of all abilities, Opportunity Enterprises (OE) recently received a grant from the Cleveland Cliffs Foundation to purchase wheelchairs for use on the Lakeside property, according to He said he purchased an accessible golf cart. release.

Ellen “Ellie” Elzinga, a family medicine nurse, is now part of the Franciscan Physician Network and is accepting new patients in Schillerville, according to the release.

PNW’s 2025 Alumni Hall of Fame Nominees
Purdue University Northwest (PNW) has launched its annual call for nominations of alumni for induction into the PNW Alumni Hall of Fame, according to a release.
The PNW Alumni Hall of Fame recognizes outstanding alumni throughout the university’s campus’ 78-year history.
Nominations for the PNW Alumni Hall of Fame Class of 2025 can be completed by December 6th. To review the specific criteria for each category and access the nomination form, please visit pnw.edu/hall-of-fame.
Nominees will be inducted into the Hall of Fame at the annual PNW Alumni Hall of Fame Dinner on April 3rd.
Boys and Girls Club match campaign was a success
Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Northwest Indiana recently announced the success of its 2024 Return to Learn match campaign, according to a release.
According to the release, both clubs not only met their match goal of $100,000, but exceeded it by more than double, earning a total of $211,799. This year marked the debut of the Clubhouse Heroes competition, with local celebrities representing the organization’s 10 clubs in a social media fundraising campaign that coincided with Return to Learn. This year’s winning hero is Chelsea Whittington, owner of C WHITT PR and former Gary Crab Kid, who raised $3,415 for Gary Crab, the release states.
Through their combined efforts, nine Clubhouse Heroes raised more than $13,000.
