Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Hassan El Khatib laid the foundation stone for the Japanese company Otsuka to manufacture nutritional supplements at No. 10 in Ramadan City.

The minister said the project is the result of continued economic cooperation between the two countries and reflects Egypt’s commitment to providing an open, dynamic and globally competitive investment environment.
El-Khatib added that Otsuka Pharmaceutical is one of the largest Japanese companies operating in the Egyptian market since 1977, specializing in pharmaceuticals, nutritional supplements, health drinks and innovative preservation solutions. The minister said the new project by the company is aimed at producing nutritional supplements, including Oronamin C products.
He added that the project is aimed at exporting to African countries and the Arabian Gulf. Since its inception, this project has received significant support and attention from the Egyptian government and political leaders, with the state guaranteeing the issuance of a golden license to streamline all procedures for this project.
El-Khatib explained that Otsuka Pharmaceutical is one of only three Japanese companies to be granted a golden license, making it a model for foreign companies looking to enter the Egyptian market.
He said this important project will leverage Egypt’s strategic location at the crossroads of three continents, its growing industrial base, and notable trade agreements that provide exceptional opportunities for international investors. He expressed his hope that the city will actively attract companies.
The minister stressed that the factory will produce for the local market and serve as an important link in regional and global supply chains, strengthening Egypt’s position as a gateway to African, Middle Eastern and European markets. He noted that the factory reflects global confidence in Egypt’s potential to become a center of industrial growth and innovation, contributing to job creation, knowledge transfer and the development of advanced industries.
El-Khatib concluded that the Egyptian government has prioritized strengthening infrastructure, improving legislation and creating a favorable investment climate. He pointed out that the relationship between Egypt and Japan is strong and the Egyptian government is very keen to support economic and investment cooperation between the two countries. This cooperation aims to attract more Japanese investment in various sectors, facilitate the transfer of modern technology, create more jobs and add value to the Egyptian economy.
